Sewing with Nancy, Giveaway Info, Pumpkins and Apples

Today's Sewing With Nancy show on the Create channel was an Amish Quilt show.   Nancy's guest was Claudine Hanson, and I really enjoyed hearing about how the little girls are introduced to sewing and quilting when they make their first quilt.  I have hesitated using black in a quilt, but this show was very inspiring and interesting, and showed how the black is used in the designs. The quilts have a simple look, but the designs and color choices have a purpose, and it was interesting to hear what those are.  One thing I learned was to use spools, cups and bowls to draw circles or half circles for the quilt design.  I have to try that.

The second section of the show was about Mongolian women learning to become quilters, and that was fascinating.  The next episode continues both of these topics, and I don't want to miss it.

There is a giveaway at It Seams to be Sew. You could win a honey bun of Beach House.   The drawing is Monday, September 27th.  Click on the title of this post to reach the site.

I quilted and finished two of my small quilts and have them on the coffee table where they look great and make me happy.

God Bless You.
