Christmas QAL June Fourth Post

I like the star pattern as it should be, as well as the star pattern as it shouldn't be.
What I like about my version is the way the sides meet and form a secondary pattern.  I'm going to look around to see if this block has a name.  I'll let you know if I learn anything.
There is only one more star to make two blocks of and then we start the putting together part.  That will be August I think.  I've grown to really love this quilt and think it's going to be much enjoyed by all of us who are making it.  Again, thanks to Sue and Cathi.

Thank you to Sue for hosting the qal today.  I know it's more work than the rest of us are doing, but it's always fun.

I may cut my fabric tonight for the Simple Things qal.  Have a great Sunday.

God Bless You.

  1. Oh wow - isn't that the weirdest thing how different the blocks turn out just from turning the quarter square triangles round?! Thank you for posting them side by side - it wasn't so easy to see the difference earlier.

That business about the blocks making further patterns is interesting - I hope you find out more about this. For me, one of the joys of the quilt patterns is how they draw you in with different layers depending on how you look at them (or how the fabrics are laid out) - it's a blend of the terribly mathamatical with series of numbers and repetitions and so on; along with the 'arty' fabrics and patterns - fascinating.

I've had a good day - but my QAL Saturday will turn into a QAL weekend (again!) when I can finish my blocks. I've not kept up properly with the progress of everyone else either - I've seen a lot of lovely things but must go back round visiting in the morning to take it in properly, and to reply to those who've kindly commented on my blog too.

  6. It is so interesting to see your other version of the block! I too like the additonal pattern when they are next to each other.
