I've had some luck in the past two days in that I won a book from Martingale Press from the SewCalGal Pets on Quilts Show, and I won buttons from the ButtonMad . Both have a whimsical look to them, and I think I need to add some whimsy to my life.. The book is Out of the Box With Easy Blocks by Mary Lou Weidman and Melanie Bautista McFarland. When I receive it I'll share more about it.

I took this picture off the ButtonMad site. This is the company that sells buttons made by women in South Africa thereby creating employment for them. The designs are charming and add a nice touch to something handmade. This is their site:
Hurricane Irene update: went back out and joined the gas lines this morning, just in case. It wasn't too bad, but was busy. Got a book from the library, just in case. Brought garden things into the cellar, just in case. That's it. Now we wait to see what happens.

Well done, Joanna - those button are so cute! And I look forward to seeing the quilt book. I may have to call you LJ from now on for 'lucky Joanna'. If your name comes out of my bag for Pick Four, I will eat my hat - no, make that my whole wardrobe! Winner picked in the morning - just got to figure the random number thingy.
