I just visited Lynn's blog http://sewnwildoaks.blogspot.com/ and was pleased to learn that one of her quilts was on display at the quilt show. I wish I had known. I looked at so many, but I think I do remember hers because I love the traditional quilt styles and spent more time looking at them.
This quilt won Best in Show. I guess you can see why.
This quilt looks like a huge photo from afar.
The quilter used quite a few techniques to get her desired effect. The water is silver decorative thread.
This one I love.
Of course, I love this cat quilt. But I noticed that the quilter kept her fmq simple and achieved a pleasant effect, which won her a ribbon. There are feathers quilted in the sashing, but the squares are simpler.
God Bless.
Beautiful quilt! That cat quilt is amazing, and I also love the cat quilt at the end of your blog...love the bright colors!
ReplyDeleteI saw the best in show at PIQF last October....when it was also the best in show. That quilt is AMAZING! The kitty quilt is a work of art. Thanks for the virtural tour of the show Joanna.
ReplyDeleteThank you :-) just love seeing art x x x x

I'm so glad that you enjoyed the show, Joanna - bit odd the 'no publicity' woman - what did she think you were going to do with the pics??
ReplyDeleteSome of the quilts I saw at the FoQ in Birmingham (UK) last year I thought were so clever and intricate BUT more ornamental than useful - I like to chuck my quilts on the bed, snuggle under them & have the cats sit on 'em!
Looks like you went to a great show. I love the kitties - especially the yellow one in the lime green border. Happy quilting.
