Simple Nine-Patch 2020

I made this scrappy quilt for this year's Hands2Help donation https://confessionsofafabricaddict.blogspot.com/.  I liked using up scraps and just sewing the patches; very relaxing.  All it needs is a label and a washing and it goes off.

  Massachusetts is now in the grips of the virus, but that means that we'll be on the down side of the curve very soon.  I have a feeling that sometime in May the stay at home advice will be lifted but we'll see.  Most people I see are wearing masks, but there are still some without.  I did grocery shopping this morning and the store was not counting heads going in and out like they did last week.  Maybe because it is a rainy day and a Monday.  For the most part people are careful and considerate. 

I hope we all stay healthy and safe, as well as our families.

Hands2Help Square in a Square

This is the lap quilt I'm sending to Happy Chemo as part of Confessions of a Fabric Addict's Hands2Help event.  

It's a simple Square in a Square quilt.

I used a gray backing.

I'm glad that Sarah's event is so successful.

Hands2Help Quilts and I Missed You!

Hello Everyone,

I missed you very much and regret that I did not keep up with all of your happenings for the past almost a whole year.  I went through a big change in moving from the home where I spent most of my life so far to a little home in the suburbs.  I love my new home.  Things are still chaotic in some ways in that now that the weather is getting nice I am trying to put my stamp on the yard and gardens.  It's fun but tons of work.  I'm sure many of you can identify with this and the stress that goes along with it.   I haven't done much quilting except for what I am sharing today, and these two quilts are for Hands 2 Help, the event Sarah Craig at Confessions of a Fabric Addict runs each year.  I've participated for a few years now and couldn't see missing it this year.  The feminine quilt top was already sewn up and only needed the hard part done, that is batting, backing, quilting, binding, etc.  I love doing the binding, so that really isn't so difficult.

 This is the feminine quilt that is made with Bunny Hill fabric and was photographed on my new front porch. I did not make the pillow; it's a Walmart special but it's sweet because it says "Faith" on it.  I've had to have a lot of that lately.

This is the masculine quilt.  Sarah shared this design, and I liked the pattern because it's all scraps.  It is very simple and fun to make because anything goes; the background color ties it all together.  

These are probably going to the Happy Chemo organization, as long as they meet the size requirements.

Sprinkles is a Traveling Quilt

These pictures tell a story.  I tested Sue Abrey's quilt design "Sprinkles", then heard about the Hands2Help Charity Quilt Challenge running now at Confessions of a Fabric Addict and decided to donate my version of Sprinkles because it's a nice size for cozying into and with the fabric I used would be good for a young person.  As you can see, my pal Moxie liked it very much, so after doing a stipple quilting and sewing on the binding, Sprinkles got washed and dried and crinkled up beautifully.  I remembered the label, something I don't always do.

Now, Sprinkles is on it's way to the midwest.  

So, from a quilt designer in Great Britain to a quilter in Massachusetts to an organization in Ohio and then, who knows.

Another version is definitely on the agenda.
