The Christmas Quiltalong will take place on
the 2nd weekend of each month Jun – Nov, with a grand parade in December. Its purpose is for us to create a Christmas
project in plenty of time for the festive season.
We’ll have a giggle sewing along together
in our little ‘retreat’ weekends! There
might some non-quilting activities to keep us in the mood.
Your hostess will open the QAL on Saturday
with an invite to link up – you can link in any time over the weekend; just join
us when you can and blog with a new post about what you are working on within
the weekend – come and visit all the participants! Then the weekend will wind down with a final
post from your hostess on Sunday.
It would be great to use this time to work
on Christmas projects – or why don’t you pick up the gauntlet that we are
throwing down ... are you up for a challenge...?
Find the Rules Here.
Make a quilt on the theme of
Christmas without using the colours red or green.
The small print:
·
The quilt may be any style, as
long as it has two layers of fabric enclosing wadding, secured by quilting or
tying
·
It may be any shape, but must
measure no more than 96” around the outside edges. ie, it could be a square 24” x 24”, a
rectangle 8” x 40”, a triangle measuring 36” on each
side, a circle with a diameter of 30”,
or any other shape you can think of, as long as the total outside edges do not
add up to more than 96”
·
You will be asked to send one
photo of your finished quilt with a ruler along the longest edge to prove it
meets size restrictions to your hostess
in December
·
To be eligible to win the prize
you must have joined at least three of the Quiltalong Linky parties with a post
during the weekend showing what you are working at that time.
Yay! This is much smaller than what I was expecting, so it will be a piece of cake! I spent a couple of hours last night doing research. Now I can finalize my plan, shop, and be at the starting line this weekend. See you there!
ReplyDeleteI'm here now and will be doing some serious thinking/planning now about what to do for the challenge.
ReplyDeleteAh, finally where I am suppose to be - the sewing machine has already been humming.
ReplyDeleteI am going to check my Christmas fabrics to see what I have that is not green or red and start sewing .
ReplyDeleteI did it!! I'm actually linked. I'll be planning today and may start sewing next week, so by next month I should have something to show.

ReplyDeleteLinked I am! Now...to decide on a project!
ReplyDeleteOK, I am sure I am being tremendously stupid but what is this Mr Linky thing (I'm not sewing this weekend but I will want it for future QALs). I followed Hazel's link to Joanna's page but I'm blowed if I can see something which says 'Linky"
ReplyDeleteAm I looking for a button, some sort of App? could someone please point my tired and confused brain in the right direction?
Lightbulb moment: enable JavaScript ...... now I can see it, thank you :}
ReplyDeleteI found what I WANT to do for this Challenge ..... we'll see. happy quilting.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like fun. I have a pattern in mind and now I just have to find the fabrics.
ReplyDeleteHope I've managed all the links. I've started a project and I'm looking forward to following everyone.
ReplyDeleteI so enjoy you gals putting the linky on a separate page. I no longer have to search for the first post to see who has joined since I last checked.
ReplyDeleteI'm joining in. This sounds like fun. I just need to decide my design.
ReplyDeleteIs it too late to join? I am thinking this would be a great thing for me to join. Come August I will be an empty nester and I think I will need to keep busy. And a weekend of quilting in July would be a good respite to the craziness of preparing for a wedding. Hope to get to join the group!
ReplyDeleteIt seems that I too am early this month.
ReplyDeleteWell, it is Saturday - early am - I am going to tackle a little before off to be.
ReplyDeleteI've linked and hope to pop in tomorrow (Sunday).
ReplyDeleteGood morning! I am all linked up for the party just to say I will catch you later. I off on a shopping trip!
ReplyDeleteFinally managed to get moving on my Christmas QAL project and link up! So excited about this QAL!!!
ReplyDeleteI am ready to roll on the October weekend - post is up.
